provided by the thriving local brickyard. Another successful business of the time was Cotton mill Virgin Manufacturing Company. Prior to the establishment of
Huntersville NC as a municipality and named in honor of Hunter, steam locomotives transported passengers on railroad tracks still seen to parallel Hwy NC 115.

Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Settled in 1760, Rural Hill Farm is the largest and oldest historic site in Mecklenburg County that is owned by the public. Dated back
to 1805, Torrance Store is the oldest in the entire state of North Carolina.
